New Years Eve - Bangkok

The group decided to go to 4 random stores. Apparently the Vietnamese get really excited about department stores/grocery stores. We bail from the group and head off on our own.

Joe wants to visit Wat Pho, the temple of the reclining Budda. We try to get a couple of tuk-tuks from the hotel there. The guy tells he he'll take us there for 20 Baht, about 80 Baht cheaper then what we have been experiencing. He says that if he stops by a department store and we look around for a bit, he'll get free gas. Since it's halfway there, cheap, and we have the time, we agree. We get there, look around, and then prepare to leave. The guy now says that only he got free gas and that in order for the other one to, he has to stop by 1 more store. Now we know we're getting the run-around. We flick them both off and walk off without paying.

We flag down a couple more that actually take us to the right place for a normal price. We check out the beautiful Wat and then walk around a little to do some street shopping. Many street vendors are closed because of the holiday. We decide to head over to MBK shopping mall. I guess that's where all the Thai teens hang out. We get there and immediately see a bug cart right on the sidewalk. This is the moment we have all been waiting for. We get some fried crickets, grasshoppers, and meal worms. The grasshoppers are large and crunchy, but not too bad. The crickets are a little less appetizing. I did not have a meal worm, but the other people seemed to like it the least. I think Anny even spit some out. There was 1 bug that no one had the guts to try, the waterbug. The thing was HUGE. No way in hell I'm getting that thing in my mouth, simply because it would have to be done on several bites.

The mall is a huge 7-story behemoth with food and clothes up the ass. There are tons of stores selling knock-offs and Anny manages to snag a nice purse. I get nothing, like usual. Someone could definitely spend all day there and not check out all the shops. I can see why everyone heads there. Like most other places, all prices are negotiable.

We get done with the mall and the women are still not satisfied. There is more shopping that can be done. We decide to head over to Suen Lam Night Market. It's right next to Lumpini Stadium, where we watched kickboxing not too long ago. Apparently the other tuk-tuk driver wants to race ours and proceeds to bob and weave through traffic cutting off everything in his path, all the while laughing like a madman. Ho and them are laughing it up not knowing how many times they came close to dying. We all get to the market safe and do more shopping. Anny buys another purse. By this time, my backpack is bursting at the seams with purchased goods. We call it a night and head back to the hotel for some New Years Eve celebrating.

After a couple of drinks, Ho and Joe decide to put on their Muay Thai boxing shorts and pose for the cameras. Words can not really describe the scene, so I'll have to post the pictures for all to see. We watch fireworks from the room and retire after a long day.

Great Wall of...Vietnam

Sorry for the long time in updating. Apparently what we did in Bangkok was a little too much to handle for the Vietnam firewall. I'm not sure what key words we used, but both Ho and myself got blocked from our blogs wherever we went. Thank goodness for proxies. I'm not too sure how well this will look since I don't have access to all the features through the proxy, but it is better than nothing.

Pattaya Beach

We took off to the beach today. We got in a modified speed boat that holds around 30 people. On the way to the island, we stopped by a floating barge so people could go parasailing. Since I did it last time, I passed this time. Anny went and she loved it. For only 350 Baht ($11), it wasn't a bad deal. The beach was really nice when we got there. We rented a some chairs and umbrellas right at the water's edge for 20 Baht (60¢) each. There were a ton of shops along the beach selling all sorts of souvenirs and food. We bought some food and a couple of coconuts and sat along the water and enjoyed our lunch. It was a very relaxing time.

After the beach, the tour had 4 shows planned for us. Most of them were pretty boring and not worth mentioning. The last show of the day was the Tiffany Show. It was a show consisting of music, dance, and costumes, all performed by transvestites. This was a different show from what Ho and I saw last time, so the "shims" were different. A lot of them looked really hot. We took a ton of picturese after the show. I'll try to post some when I get back and you can see for yourself as a reminder: "Don't talk to any hot women in Thailand, because it's likely they're a dude."

Pattaya

We get to Pattaya and start to see the difference. There are beer bars, clubs, and go-go bars everywhere. This is truly the city of sin, not that that's a bad thing.

We start of our stay in Pattaya with a bang! We sign up to go see 3 sex shows for the night at the cost of 2100 Baht ($64) each person. It was a little expensive, but when are we going to get another chance like this? The first one was like what we saw last time. Mostly women performing stunts with their vaginas. We saw them smoke cigarettes, pull out pins and razor blades, open bottle caps, play horns and whistles, pop out pingpong balls, put in and squirt out 3 live goldfish, a turtle, a small mouse, and a hummingbird. And then it got weird. The next show was equally more entertaining as it was disturbing. They introduced members of the opposite sex to the show. We saw guys with their schlongs hanging out, chasing the female members of the audience around. It was more entertaining then I thought. They brought up a volunteer from the crowd and gave him a lap dance with 5 pretty Thai women. It reminded of a bachelor party back in the states. He sits down and they bring up another excited volunteer. They bring out a Thai girl who Anny says is simply "gorgeous". She gives him a topless lapdance and makes him touch her from her head and down, and down, and down, until he gets low enough, where he finds a little surprise awaiting his eager hands. Turns out this gorgeous "woman", was a man. Or part man anyways. They look on the guys face was priceless. He was so pissed off at his friends. And you think this would end the show, but it doesn't. They leave the "shim" on stage and bring out a guy. As Joe correctly put it, "but...but...there's no other place for it to go..." We are now traumatized. On to the next show. I'm not going to talk too much about the next show because it will give me nightmares for the rest of my life.

After all the excitement, we took a taxi down to Walking Street. If I had to compare it with something in the states, I would say Bourbon Street in New Orleans, but more racey. We did a quick walk around. We'll be back again tomorrow for a closer, more detailed look.

Tomorrow, beach day.

Thailand Observations

So I've noticed a couple of things while in Thailand.
  1. There are tons of older white gentlemen roaming the seats of Thailand, none of them there to there to check out the sites. It is very common to see a 60 year old man walking with what looks to be a Thai girl barely out of her teens, sometimes 2 or 3 of them. We're going to try to take some discrete pictures of this. We don't want to get a beatdown or anything. Not sure how much they are paying these girls, and we're a little afraid to ask.
  2. There are a lot of ugly women here. They all still manage to bag themselves a sugardaddy though. Don't get me wrong, there are some really pretty ones too, but we have the suspicion they are actually men. More on this in another post.
  3. You can't buy anything without bargaining. Very rarely will you see a price on an item. They will tell you the price depending on how you look. Everything is negotiable. If they tell you something is 100 Baht, make the first offer 30-50 Baht. If they accept right away, you know you messed up. They overprice everything, knowing you'll counter. You can usually walk away thinking good about yourself that you got a deal, all the while the seller is laughing his ass off that he just ripped you off. It's a win-win.

Bangkok

The flight over to Bangkok was not too bad. It took a little over 1.5 hours. The tour that we are going with is rather large, 55 people. Most of them are Vietnamese with 2 white girls, 1 of them being Amanda. I swear, Viet people have no sense of lines, or saved seats. Getting on the plane was a mess, everyone trying to skip everyone else, even though there's assigned seats. So you think. Once on the plane I quickly realized that everyone was sitting anywhere but their actual seats in order to sit close to family members or friends. Some lady was sitting in Ho's and Amanda's seats. She offered to trade her seats to them. One in the back of the plane, the other half way up. "But I have a son...". Ho was like, "I have a wife, and those are my seats, so get out."

First night in Bangkok, they took us to the lamest crocodile farm. Our only hope was that someone would get their arm/head bit off, but that was not to be. We checked into the hotel and decided to get Thai oil massages across the street. It was 400 Baht for 1 hour, which is about $12. I swear, those ladies have thumbs of steel. Ho managed to get some bruises on his legs from the massage.

We saw the Grand Palace the next day. It was very large and very gold. Ho and I have seen it before, so it was nothing special to us. We bailed out of the tour the rest of the day and headed off on our own. We walked down to the river and booked a long boat for a tour of the canals. We negotiated a price of 300 Baht (~$9) each for a 1.5 hour tour. It was interesting, but not the coolest things I have seen. We wondered the streets for a little bit and did a little bit of shopping. I'm stocking up on fake sunglasses where I can and Anny is always looking for cheap clothing.

We asked for directions and went to see a Muay Thai fight. The stadium that was hosting the fights that night was Lumpini Stadium. We went to get some tickets and they suggested the ringside ones because they were a lot safer because of the extra security against pickpockets and fights. Not knowing any better, we forked over 2000 Baht ($61) each for the fights. Once we got there, we realized that we could have gotten seats in the 2nd class seats and been fine. Damn, we got ripped off. We could have saved $15, bastards.

Next stop Pattaya, "The Extreme City".

1st Day

Wow! What a long flight. It seemed like it would never end. It was 14 hours to Seoul and then another 5.5 hours to Vietnam. We didn't get in until close to 11pm. The heat really beats you down the minute you walk out of the airport. I guess in Vietnam, there is no such thing as Winter. We didn't get into bed until around 2am. Around 3am, we were woken to the sound of farm animals. Most notibably, chickens and pigs. We could here them squeel as they were selected for the day's slaughter. When stopped squeeling, then the church bells rang. The bells would then stop and the pigs would start up again. What an aweful night. Anny is no longer allowed to say my home town, Long Xuyen, is the "country".

We decided to bypass the typical taxi service and rented scooters with drivers for the day. The cost was $10 each but well worth it. They took us around the city to the markets and area sites and waited for us while we shopped. A taxi would have probabaly cost more and not been nearly as fun. We have some awesome pictures of us on Saigon's roads. None of us died, in case you were wondering.

We leave for Thailand tomorrow morning. There are 3 things we must do while in Thailand:
1. See an actual kick boxing match
2. Eat the bugs from the cart we saw on the street last time
3. See the "heavy" sex show with animals and tricks (I'll leave the rest to your imagination)

So far, we have not ingested any strange creatures. I'm hoping to change that. Did I tell you how hot and humid it is here?

Trip Day

Well, we leave for Vietnam in about 11 hours. I don't know how much sleep I'll be getting tonight. We have so much luggage it would make your head spin. Thank goodness there's a 50 lb limit, or else I would be in serious trouble. Even then, Anny managed to fill up 4 suitcases full of stuff. I'm going to take a picture of all the luggage. It's a site to behold. I think we have packed everything, me especially. My closet and dressers are basically empty now that every piece of clothing I have are in the suitcases. I'll have some updates once we land in Vietnam.

BME Pain Olympics

Ok, so after watching 2girls1cup, I didn't think it could get worse. It can. I heard about BME Pain Olympics from a 2girls1cup reaction video on youtube. Since the last video turned out pretty good, we decided to give this one a shot too. Big mistake. This is probably the sickest video I have seen yet, and I've seen a lot. Anny couldn't watch and I had a hard time breathing after the video was done. Bad images still pop into my head from time to time. I think the video has messed me up for life. In any case, here's our reaction video:

Here is the link to the video for you sick f*ckers out there. There are at least 2 versions out there. Here is probably the worst of the 2 I have seen.

2 girls 1 cup reaction

So I ran into a couple of videos people have posted on youtube of them watching a clip called 2girls1cup. From the looks of it, it's pretty nasty and disgusting. Just my type of video. I stole my cousin's webcam for the night and Anny and I watched the video and made our own reaction video. WOW! That's really all I can really say. Check out our video:

Here is a link to the actual video for all you that are as sick as I am.
